HERNDON, Va. - Apr. 11, 2000 - A team led by Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) company, has been selected by the U.S. Navy to provide engineering and technical services for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) systems that support the fleet and joint warfighting activities.

Highlights

  • Logicon wins Navy engineering services contract for C4I systems
  • Five-year contract has a potential value of $81 million
  • Contract centers on fielded systems, currently in service
The Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center, Charleston, S.C., awarded the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, which has a first-year value of $16 million. The contract contains four one-year options and has a cumulative contract value of $81 million, if all options are exercised.

The SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston provides worldwide in-service engineering and technical support for current and future C4I systems. These systems are used in all classes of ships and at many shore installations and include sensors, video teleconferencing, image processing, air traffic control, navigation, computer security, briefing systems and communications networks.

"This contract will allow Logicon to continue its longstanding support of SPAWAR Systems Center Charleston's role as a C4I in-service engineering agent," said Jim Kramer, program manager, Logicon. "It also enables us to remain a leader in supporting operations, maintenance, upgrades and modernization of these systems, which are vital to the success of future fleet and joint operations."

Logicon's Information Solutions unit will lead the contractor team, which includes Texcom, Porstmouth, Va., and Eagan McAllister, Lexington Park, Md. Work on the program will be performed in Charleston and in Norfolk and Reston, Va.

The award is the second recent Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR)-related contract win for Logicon. The company was selected by the SPAWAR Systems Command in San Diego, Calif., to develop C4ISR systems under a five-year contract that has a potential value of $46 million. The Charleston contract is focused on fielded C4I systems, and the SPAWAR Systems Command, San Diego contract targets advanced concepts and technologies for future C4ISR systems.
