LOGICON WINS DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CONTRACT TO SUPPORT DEFENSE THREAT REDUCTION AGENCY

FARNBOROUGH 2000 AIR SHOW, FARNBOROUGH, U.K. -- July 24, 2000 -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) company, has received a five-year, $117 million contract to provide advisory and assistance services to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).

Related Links Logicon will provide advisory and assistance services to support the DTRA's mission to reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction (WMD). The effort will provide wide-ranging support on critical agency issues, enhance the understanding and development of alternative solutions to complex objective areas, such as deterring the use of WMD, reducing the present threat to America of WMD, preparing for the future threat of WMD, and building relationships to ensure success.

Dr. Charles Stebbins, vice president-Research and Development Applications at Logicon, said the DTRA contract was one of the company's top priorities for 2000.

"Winning this recompeted contract allows us to retain and grow our in-depth knowledge of the operational and technical elements of many DTRA projects, and to expand our support activities into other DTRA functional areas such as arms control, chem/bio, and cooperative threat reduction," said Dr. Stebbins. "This knowledge is extremely valuable when supporting other operational and technical activities across the Department of Defense."

Logicon's Information Solutions unit, headquartered in Herndon, Va., will lead the contractor team. The new contract was awarded July 17, and the work will be performed in Alexandria and Dulles, Va., and other Logicon locations.

"This program is science at its highest technical level coupled with operational considerations," said Lou Moses, Logicon's DTRA program manager. "Our past and present experience will allow us to develop innovative solutions to new high-tech problems and apply these in operational situations."
