Related Links Logicon was one of 10 large business teams awarded a DESP contract by the Ogden Air Logistics Center, Utah. The five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, multiple award contract has an aggregate ceiling of $450 million for the contractor teams.

"As a designer, developer and integrator of Department of Defense [DoD] weapon systems, subsystems and components, the Logicon team will address the challenges of ownership costs, parts obsolescence, vanishing suppliers and modernization needed to extend the life of Air Force systems," said Mike Anderson, DESP program manager, Logicon.

DESP provides design and engineering support services to all AFMC, DoD and other government agency systems, components and support equipment. This includes systems integration, modifications, maintenance, repair and operations/processes support. The program is a follow-on to the current Design Engineering II Program (DEP II), but will have an expanded scope of work in types of systems supported and tasks performed.

"DESP emphasizes design engineering and the infusion of new technology into existing systems," said Anderson. "Logicon will provide overall program direction as well as task orders in the areas of information technology, systems engineering, testing and support equipment."

Northrop Grumman's Integrated Systems and Aerostructures (ISA) Sector is a member of the Logicon team and will provide engineering services in aircraft structures; mechanical and avionics systems integration; modifications, maintenance and repair; as well as other areas.

"In addition to Logicon's and ISA's capabilities, our DESP team members provide industry leadership in propulsion, communications, environmental systems and software technologies," said Roger Fujii, vice president of Systems and Information Technology for Logicon's Advanced Technology (LAT) unit.

LAT, headquartered in San Pedro, Calif., leads the DESP team which includes Northrop Grumman's ISA Sector, Dallas, Texas; Thiokol Propulsion, Brigham City, Utah; Redcon, Bountiful, Utah; Milestone Engineering, Yorba Linda, Calif.; General Dynamics Communications Systems Division, Needham, Mass.; and Object Technology Corp., Salt Lake City, Utah.
