HERNDON, Va. -- July 13, 2000 -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) company, has renamed an existing business unit Logicon Commercial Information Services (LCIS) to focus on its expanding commercial business opportunities. The unit was formerly known as Grumman Systems Support Corporation (GSSC).

Highlights

  • Grumman Systems Support Corp. renamed Logicon Commercial Information Services
  • LCIS is the focal point for Logicon's commercial IT business
  • LCIS introduces LogicCareSM, an integrated suite of IT services
LCIS will be the focal point of Logicon's commercial information technology (IT) business, which has grown 35 percent per year for the past three years. In 1999, Logicon posted commercial IT sales of $142 million.

"Although Logicon is best known for its government IT work, we have long had a successful and growing commercial IT business in GSSC," said Herb Anderson, president and chief executive officer-Logicon. "This name change reinforces Logicon's attention to the commercial market and strengthens our corporate identity by incorporating Logicon into the business unit name."

The company's growth in commercial IT reflects its success in applying the technologies and processes from its government contracts to targeted opportunities in commercial markets. The company has worked on commercial contracts since the 1980's.

"Through an integrated suite of services called LogicCareSM, LCIS has a wide range of IT offerings including architecture planning, technical consulting, desktop refresh programs, on-site maintenance and support, network services, help desk and program management services," said Joe Mulderig, president-LCIS. "These and other services are enhanced by the resources of Logicon, an IT leader with more than $1.4 billion in annual sales."

A key element of the organization's success has been its ability to retain and expand its relationships with diverse base of customers including commercial and institutional end-user firms. LCIS also pursues prime contracting engagements in the 500- to 10,000-seat range, and subcontracting opportunities on larger programs.

LCIS, headquartered in Bohemia, N.Y., has approximately 850 employees and more than 100 service locations in the United States. Major offices include Austin, Tex.; Chicago, Ill.; Gaithersburg, Md.; Longmont, Colo.; and Pleasanton, Calif. More information on LCIS is available on the Web at www.logiccare.com.

Logicon Inc., headquartered in Herndon, is a leader in advanced information technologies, systems and services. Areas of expertise include command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR); weapon systems; information systems; training and simulation; science and technology; base and range support; and commercial information services.
