"Logicon was the prime integration contractor for DLIS's successful modernization effort that began in 1990, and this new contract gives us additional flexibility in supporting our customer," said Larry Parshall, project director, Logicon. "We'll now work with DLIS to manage legacy system interfaces, perform business process re-engineering, develop policies and procedures and deploy integrated solutions to meet DLIS's business needs.

Logicon will support overall project design and development, and provide mid-tier systems administration support and services. Litton PRC, headquartered in McLean, Va., will serve as the primary subcontractor on the program in support of the local area network, end user computing and help desk services.

DLIS is part of the Defense Logistics Agency and manages the Federal Catalog System, the world's largest automated logistics information database. This single database includes more than 7 million items ranging from nuts and bolts, office supplies, furniture, medical supplies and uniforms to weapons systems repair parts used by the U.S. military and its allies.

Located in Battle Creek, DLIS also serves as the program manager for a system that improves the way the Department of Defense manages engineering data on supply items. To support this, DLIS developed the Military Engineering Data Asset Locator System, which provides the location of blueprints, drawing and other technical data for 24 million items.

Logicon Inc., headquartered in Herndon, is a leader in advanced information technologies, systems and services. Areas of expertise include command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR); weapon systems; information systems; training and simulation; science and technology; base and range support; and commercial information services.
