HERNDON, Va. -- March 1, 2001 -- Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) company, has received an outsourcing contract from Vought Aircraft Industries Inc. to provide information technology (IT) services. The contract is valued at $107 million for the first two years and could be extended through December 2004 if all options are exercised.

Highlights

  • Vought selects Logicon to provide IT services
  • Contract value is $107 million for the first two years
  • Wide-ranging contract covers a full spectrum of IT services

Services to be provided by Logicon include support of all hardware, from desktops to mainframes; network services, including WANs and LANs; systems engineering support; application support; programming; consulting; disaster recovery; and help desk services.

"Under this wide-ranging outsourcing contract, Logicon will provide IT services to Vought through at least December 2002," said Herb Anderson, president and chief executive officer, Logicon. "This agreement provides a significant boost to our growing commercial business, while providing Vought with IT services fully aligned with its business goals."

Logicon provides IT services to all sectors of Northrop Grumman, as well as commercial enterprises and federal, state and local government agencies. Logicon's Commercial Information Services and Internal Information Services units will both support the Vought contract.

Vought Aircraft was formerly the aerostructures business area of Northrop Grumman. This segment was sold to The Carlyle Group last year and renamed.

The new multiyear agreement replaces an existing contract between Vought and Logicon that started in July 2000. Vought had selected Logicon to ensure a smooth IT services transition following the sale to Carlyle.

"We are pleased with Logicon's customer focus," said Bryan Tutor, information technology director for Vought Aircraft Industries. "They are an integral part of Vought's daily operations. We rely on them for our IT solutions and support so that we can concentrate on serving our customers."

Vought, headquartered in Dallas, Tex., has facilities in Dallas; Hawthorne, Calif.; Perry and Milledgeville, Ga.; and Stuart, Fla.
