CHANTILLY, Va., Feb. 28, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will break ground in Chantilly today as part of the company's information technology (IT) business expansion to add capacity to better serve client demands and house additional employees who support defense and national security customers.

The ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. EDT at the Westfields campus of Northrop Grumman's IT sector, 4805 Stonecroft Boulevard in Chantilly, Va.

Highlighting the occasion will be remarks from Wood Parker, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Intelligence group, and Evan Hineman, former TASC (Intelligence group) president for Northrop Grumman's IT sector.

"This building expansion marks our ongoing commitment to our customers and the success of their critical missions. Additionally, this expansion will allow Northrop Grumman IT employees to work more closely with one other, as each of the four buildings on the Westfields campus are within walking distance of each other," said Parker. "We plan on continuing to grow our business in this region, and this building will provide us with further resources to pursue that goal."

The fourth and final Northrop Grumman Westfields facility will have approximately 112,000 square feet. The facility will house Northrop Grumman employees providing core IT services such as advanced systems engineering and integration services and solutions to the national security community.

"In addition to servicing our defense and national security customers, we will also have employees from our commercial, state and local group, and civilian agencies group in the Westfields/Chantilly area," said Parker. "Our company's range of services will provide an added boost to the local economy and further establish Northrop Grumman as one of Virginia's largest private employers."

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a $30 billion global defense and technology company whose 120,000 employees provide innovative systems, products, and solutions in information and services, electronics, aerospace and shipbuilding to government and commercial customers worldwide.
