Nancy Scheer-Nelson, Director of Public Health Division

Nancy Scheer-Nelson is Director of the Public Health Division and responsible for a staff of more than 1,000 information technology and public health professionals. Previously, she was the Program Director responsible for Northrop Grumman program support on the CDC Information Technology Services (CITS) contract in Atlanta. Prior to the CITS contract, Ms. Nelson served as the Program Director for the TRW CISSS contract with CDC. Since 1992, her programs have provided public health and information technology solutions primarily to the CDC and its public health partners. Ms. Nelson is responsible for building the Public Health program in Atlanta from an initial employee base of 50 to its present base of more than 1,000. Currently, she is working to expand the Public Health Division's capability to national, international, and state and local customers.

Ms. Nelson received a bachelor's degree in psychology and education from Towson State University and a master's degree in human development from George Washington University. Her postgraduate professional development activities have included the Darden Leadership Training "Creating the Future" through the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and participation and completion in the Leadership America Class of 2002.

Ms. Nelson stays active in the public health community by serving on the Dean's Council of the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health and the CDC Foundation Board of Visitors.
