Jim Sowder, Chief Technology Officer 

Jim Sowder is the Chief Technology Officer for Health & Human Services within Northrop Grumman Information Technology and holds the title of Technical Fellow. He is responsible for shaping the health-related technology strategy within Northrop Grumman, providing direction and advice to research & development efforts, developing new capabilities and solutions within the health market, and assessing the technological needs of our organization. Mr. Sowder’s technical expertise is in the areas of systems engineering and information system architecture. The scope of his system involvement has ranged from component/subsystem development, large information systems, to agency-wide IT architectures.
 
Mr. Sowder has more than 20 years of IT experience and has twice been nominated for the Northrop Grumman Chairman’s and President’s Award for Innovation, receiving the President’s award in 2003. He has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
