United Kingdom National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS)

Northrop Grumman Information Technology is designing, developing, and implementing a National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) for the United Kingdom. NAFIS will provide a powerful computing infrastructure that connects the Home Office and 43 police forces throughout England and Wales and an integrated national fingerprint system.

Law-enforcement personnel at sites across the country will be able to capture ten-print and scene-of-crime mark (latent) fingerprints, and electronically submit the images to a national database for identification and verification. High-priority requests will be processed in seconds and routine requests in less than an hour.
