Kristie Cunningham is the director of Communications for Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT). She is responsible for communications and branding activities with target audiences including customers, partners, employees, members of the media and industry analysts. She leads the IT sector's external strategic communications efforts, and manages the sector’s executive and employee communications program.

Ms. Cunningham is a successful communications professional who has mastered the art of developing and executing high-impact communication strategies that increase understanding of business objectives and drive employee engagement. In her role as manager of executive and employee communications, Ms. Cunningham’s responsibilities included focusing and expanding the IT sector’s community relations program across the board.

Ms. Cunningham came to Northrop Grumman from AOL LLC, where she most recently served as senior director, Communications and Community Investment. In this role, she directed internal communications and recruitment strategies for 10,000-plus global workforce, increasing awareness of the company's philanthropic commitment and driving employee engagement. She also developed and executed multiple theme-based strategic communications plans, built around the company's multiple volunteer programs and geared toward fostering a sense of "giving back" among employees.

Her earlier roles at AOL included director, Employee Communications and senior manager, Marketing Communications. Prior to joining AOL in 1998, she was with MCI WorldCom as manager, Strategy and Technology Communications; editor and associate editor for the Personal Communications Industry Association, Washington, D.C.; and sales assistant at the Washington Times, Washington, D.C.

Ms. Cunningham has a bachelor's degree in mass communications, with concentrations in journalism and telecommunications, from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. She is heavily involved in youth and volunteer boards in her community.
