Sector Vice President, Business Management and Chief Financial Officer Northrop Grumman Information Technology
Bernard P. McVey, Jr. is vice president, Business Management, and chief financial officer for Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology (IT) sector.
Mr. McVey is responsible for executing all aspects of the IT sector’s Business Management organization's strategy and related responsibilities.
As chief financial officer, Mr. McVey’s responsibilities encompass contracting, pricing, procurement, resources planning, facilities, and financial reporting and forecasting. In addition, he plays an instrumental role in supporting new business initiatives and the overall business systems environment across the sector.
Mr. McVey has a strong background in the area of business growth, which includes serving as the IT sector’s controller since September 2004. He has extensive experience in program financial management, business operations, and international, commercial and government contracting. As controller, he has been instrumental in the sector’s SAP/One Source conversion, the exiting of the Computing Systems reseller business and reorganization of the procurement department. Mr. McVey has had oversight of internal controls, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, financial planning and reporting, and budgeting. The organization also operates a shared accounting services operation that supports three Northrop Grumman sectors.
Since joining Northrop Grumman in 1978, Mr. McVey has held increasingly responsible positions in financial and business management. He previously served in the company’s Electronic Systems sector as vice president and business manager for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Naval Systems.
A graduate of Loyola College, Baltimore, Mr. McVey has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance. He is a certified public accountant in the state of Maryland, and in 2001 successfully completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
