Linda A. Mills is corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector, headquartered in McLean, Va. She directs one of the world's premier providers of advanced IT, engineering and business solutions for government and commercial clients. In addition, Ms. Mills is a member of the Northrop Grumman Corporate Policy Council.

With 2007 revenue of approximately $4.5 billion, Northrop Grumman IT employs more than 18,500 people worldwide with expertise in such areas as homeland security solutions, secure wireless, cyber and physical security, IT and network infrastructure, managed services, knowledge management, modeling and simulation, and geospatial intelligence solutions.

Ms. Mills is also responsible for Northrop Grumman Corporation's IT shared service organization, which manages and implements enterprise solutions in partnership with the company's corporate office. The IT shared service organization is led by Northrop Grumman Corporation’s chief information officer, who reports to Ms. Mills.

Most recently, Ms. Mills was president of Northrop Grumman IT's Civilian Agencies business group. The group provides enterprisewide network solutions and IT systems development, integration, services, program management and consulting to federal government agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Justice, Department of State, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Treasury, U.S. Postal Service and Department of Homeland Security, helping them serve the public and protect the homeland.

Previously, Ms. Mills was Northrop Grumman IT's vice president for Operations and Processes. She was responsible for the sector's operations, strategy and planning and helped ensure that near- and long-term financial commitments to the corporation were met.

Before joining the IT sector, Ms. Mills was vice president, Mission Assurance/Six Sigma at Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector. She led the strategy, planning and execution for Six Sigma to increase customer satisfaction through streamlined operations and improved quality at Northrop Grumman. She led engineering process and quantitative analysis efforts, including Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model® Integration assessments.

Earlier, as vice president of Information Systems and Processes, Ms. Mills was responsible for internal information systems, e-business and engineering processes. She was the vice president for the Corporate Global Year 2000 program to design, develop and implement a consistent Y2K methodology worldwide. Since 1979, she held various positions including director of the intelligence business segment, project manager for the Requirements Management System Community Management System, and deputy project manager for the Ocean Surveillance Information System Baseline Upgrade. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Ms. Mills was a systems engineer at Bell Laboratories.

Ms. Mills was awarded the CEO Leadership Award in 2000, 2001 and 2005, and the Continuing Improvement Award in 1990 and 1994. She was also honored as one of Profiles in Diversity Journal's "Women Worth Watching in 2007" for her leadership achievements. Ms. Mills has served on the boards of the Fairfax (Va.) Symphony Orchestra and the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and is a member of various professional organizations including the Association of Computing Machinery and the Institute of Electrical Engineering.

Ms. Mills has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Santa Clara and a master's degree in computer science from the University of Illinois.
