Northrop Grumman Information Technology

Ralph Pope is vice president and sector counsel for Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology (IT) sector. The sector’s headquarters are in McLean, Va., with satellite offices throughout the United Sates and Europe.

As sector counsel, Mr. Pope is responsible for managing the delivery of legal advice and Law department support to all elements of Northrop Grumman IT, including its multiple sites, programs and subsidiaries. These responsibilities include monitoring and coordinating litigation, investigations, environmental matters, intellectual property matters, and employment and labor issues.

Mr. Pope joined Northrop Grumman in 1985 and has held several positions in the Law department, including assignments with the company’s Aircraft and B-2 divisions. His experience includes negotiating enterprise infrastructure agreements, information technology acquisitions and analysis and negotiation of information technology contracts. He also has provided support for a variety of labor and compliance legal issues, as well as legal support for international sales and litigation management.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Pope was a staff counsel for Candle Corporation, Los Angeles. He gained general litigation and appellate experience as an Associate with Buckley, Treacy, Schaffel, Mackey & Abbate, New York, N.Y. Other previous positions include attorney at the commonwealth of Massachusetts, Environmental Protection Agency and assistant district attorney at the District Attorney’s Office, Suffolk County, Boston.

Mr. Pope has a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the Eisenhower College of the Rochester Institute of Technology. He received his juris doctorate from Suffolk University, Boston, and an LL.M. in international law specializing in European community law from Cambridge University, England. He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, California, the District of Columbia and Virginia.
