David W. Zolet
President, Commercial, State and Local Group Northrop Grumman Information Technology
David W. Zolet is president of the Northrop Grumman Information Technology (IT) Commercial, State and Local group, with operations throughout the United States and the United Kingdom.
The group is a leading provider of information technology solutions and services to state and local governments and private industry, focusing on meeting customer needs in the areas of information technology outsourcing, public safety command and control, interoperability and data sharing, secure wireless communications and networks, large scale identification systems, and human services solutions. The Commercial, State and Local group also is Northrop Grumman’s center of excellence for managed IT services, providing data center services; desktop services; network and security management; and help desk services in partnership with other Northrop Grumman IT groups to assist federal and international customers, as well as meeting Northrop Grumman Corporation’s internal IT needs.
Most recently, Mr. Zolet was president of Northrop Grumman IT’s Defense group, a business responsible for providing information technology and related services to the Department of Defense. Previously, he was vice president for Corporate Business Development responsible for overseeing large, cross-sector business opportunities, and accelerating decision-making and capture activities associated with corporate priority opportunities.
Earlier, Mr. Zolet was vice president of Homeland Security for Northrop Grumman Corporation. In that position, Mr. Zolet was responsible for coordinating homeland security solutions across the corporation and driving new business opportunities throughout the company. Prior to that role, Mr. Zolet was vice president and general manager of the Northrop Grumman Mission Systems’ Civil Systems division, a major supplier of command and control centers to the public safety community, as well as a leading provider of systems integration and information technology solutions to state and local governments.
Mr. Zolet joined Northrop Grumman in 1983, via TRW, and has more than two decades of experience in engineering, strategic planning, business development, government relations and general management. His early background includes design, development, deployment and operations of complex signal processing, geolocation and communications systems for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. In 1994, he also was selected to participate in a one-year Congressional Fellow’s Program sponsored by the Brookings Institution, a Washington, D.C.-based independent, nonpartisan organization focused on public policy issues in the areas of economics, foreign policy and government, where Mr. Zolet worked for U.S. Rep. Amory Houghton, Jr.
Mr. Zolet has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from The Johns Hopkins University, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
